Penile Injection Therapy for ED

Penile injection therapy or Intracavernosal injection is a self-administered process by which you inject the shaft of the penis with a small amount of liquid medication.

Each Custom Cocktail is a compounded medication. A licensed compounding pharmacy prepares it for you, combining 1 to 6 medications that widen blood vessels in the penis. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Your provider adjusts the dose to help you get an erection firm enough for sex, while lowering the risk of one that lasts too long.

How does this treatment work?

Intracavernosal injection medications are potent vasodilators that allow increased blood flow to the erectile tissue of the penis. The product is a liquid medication that your provider adjusts the dose to help you get an erection firm enough for sex, while lowering the risk of one that lasts too long.

The injection process takes a few seconds and the medication works within a few minutes. You will feel a slight pinch during the injection process. This product can be used up to three times per week.

Risk and Side Effects

  • Pain, bruising and edema at the injection site
  • Scar tissue formation
  • Prolonged erection lasting longer than 4 hours. An erection lasting more than 4 hours is a medical emergency. Go to the nearest emergency room.
